NEPALI BRAILLE CONVERTER SYSTEM- Nepali Braille Converter System (NBCS) developed by ICT RESEARCH CENTER FOR PWDs, is software which automates the translation of Devnagari text into Nepali Braille. This software is specially developed for People with Visual Impairments (PWVI) which includes blind and low vision along with sighted professionals who works for publication & print media like preparing and printing academic Braille Books, Magazines and other reading material through Braille.
This software helps its end users to translate Nepali script into Nepali Braille script. This also has printing feature which helps to print the translated Nepali Braille output. It also has speech feature integrated into in it, so when PWVI uses this software it will alert the users via speech what text/characters they are typing. For Low vision Users it has color and font options too for the accessibility.
NBCS will also will help in the education of PWDs significantly because it includes the accessibility features like Devnagari Braille translation with Nepali speech as a prototype integrated into it, which can be accessed conveniently, it acts as a digital book as well as Nepali Braille translator tool, this will make it accessible from kathmandu to Jumla and vice versa for PWDs inclusive education.
Medical Packaging in Braille via NBCS:
ICT FOR PWDs has developed a solution for pharmaceutical companies who require to emboss Devnagari Braille on medical packaging.This will help the People with Visual Impairment to access the product details in Nepali Braille. This will help the Blind person to know the manufactured and expiry date along with other details of specific products.
